Basecamp Hotels is pleased to announce the addition of Basecamp Tahoe City, a new sister hotel to the original Basecamp in South Lake Tahoe. Located in downtown Tahoe City, Basecamp provides all the amenities of a town within walking distance while being next door to a State Park at the heart of some of the greatest outdoor activities in the country.

Formerly the Aviva Inn, the 24-room boutique hotel has been fully renovated to reflect the adventurous spirit and design of the original property, with its own signature elements. All guestrooms feature the “Basecamp Bed” with a custom-made four-star quality mattress, 300 thread count sheets and hypoallergenic comforters to ensure explorers get a restful night’s sleep. Each room is equipped with a desk (a satellite “office”) and a gear rack for all your mountain or lake gear. The signature room is The Great Indoors (Family Vacation) room which has a separate “Little Explorer’s Basecamp” featuring a bunk bed, walls clad in canvas and pockets for every little explorer’s gear. Parents can sleep in an adjoining room in a cozy tent, and it’s camping for the whole family in the Great Indoors.

Basecamp Hotels are places to connect with people and share experiences and Tahoe City is no exception. From our Sun Room and lake-view deck to our lobby and its patio, there is an abundance of places to relax. Our lobby features a double-sided fireplace, a lounge area and communal dining space to treat yourself to one of our thoughtfully selected craft beers.  The hotel also houses an intimate lobby bar and community eatery featuring a complimentary continental breakfast, as well a seasonal communal dinner menu featuring mountain classics from around the world, including Tahoe Mountain Chili or imported Swiss favorites like fondue and raclette. Gourmet hot chocolates including Venezuelan Spiced Chocolate and the signature Basecamp Hot Chocolate (think fireside s’mores in a mug) are also available.

Basecamp is perfectly located to explore the Tahoe Basin year round, just steps from the heart of downtown Tahoe City, and only a 3-minute walk to set a paddleboard in the lake. Any day of the year, adventurers can choose from more than 100 activities within 10 miles of the hotel, from mountain biking the Tahoe Rim Trail, golfing at Brockway, skiing Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows, to paddle boarding into secluded beaches and inlets around the lake. There is no better location from which to explore Tahoe. For those interested in exploring Tahoe’s nightlife and unique retail options, there are great options within a short walk of Basecamp Tahoe City, or you can drive 20 minutes to Stateline where you can visit the famous Cal-Neva, Crystal Bay or Biltmore Casinos.
Basecamp Hotels are designed for adventure and relaxation seekers alike, with the amenities and style of a modern resort, but at more reasonable prices. Guests will discover a comfortable, friendly hotel that prepares travelers for exploring their destination by giving them a great night’s sleep and inspirational, cozy communal spaces where they can share stories and learn from other like-minded explorers.
“Basecamp has the low-key, homespun feel of a hotel started by your hippest friends and run by your most organized. Great location, surprisingly good prices and a high level of creativity…” – The New York Times
