Community members are invited to attend a project update meeting for the Tahoe City firehouse properties near Commons Beach in North Lake Tahoe.
The meeting will be held April 4 from 6-8 p.m. at the former Fire Station 51, located at 300 North Lake Boulevard in Tahoe City.
County staff will share four request for information responses received for a long-term lease and reuse development concept for the Tahoe City firehouse properties.
Located in the heart of Tahoe City, the property presents a unique setting with access to outstanding recreation and proximity to the Tahoe City town center, transit hubs, bike trails, ski resorts, marinas and residential communities.
The county-owned Tahoe City firehouse properties include three buildings: the former North Tahoe Fire Station 51, Tahoe Community Center building and the former visitor center building.
Staff will also share an overview of the process for moving the project forward, including a summary of selected RFI submissions and an outline of next steps. RFI respondents will be present to accept feedback and answer questions as time allows.
The RFI submittal evaluation process is driven by a review team comprised of eight members: four from Placer County and four local community leaders. The goal of the review process is to find the ideal candidate to enter into a long-term lease with Placer County to successfully deliver improvements to the firehouse properties and operate a sustainable business that meets the needs of the community.
The Placer County Board of Supervisors will receive an update on the project at their April meeting in North Lake Tahoe.
