With torch’s blazing down Squaw Valley’s Mountain, followed by the booming of firework’s…the SnowFest! 2013 kicked off the 10 day whirlwind tour of events without a hitch! The buzz on the street….Best Fireworks and Parades EVER! SnowFest! 2013 also raised money for 6 non-profit organizations through the Queen Contest, and has raised over 250,000 since it’s inception for non-profits in the basin!

Events this year took place from Diamond Peak and the Hyatt in Incline Village, Crystal Bay Casino, Kings Beach, Tahoe City, all the way down the West Shore to Homewood Ski area and into Squaw Valley… and onward to Truckee! Making this 10 day event, the largest winter event in not only duration, but also its expanse of the North Lake Tahoe Region.

Dates for 2014: Feb. 28- March 9.

*Highlights of Tahoe City Parade: Save-Mart Super Kart! A huge shopping cart on wheels with space for at least 8 people to ride in! Back by popular demand: Railroad Regulators of Truckee, who came, shot and robbed their way through town… and had an all around great time!

*Dog’s pulled their way with sleds in Tahoe City, despite the rainy day!

*New location did not despair the Truckee I-did-a-run Dog Pull either! Huge turn out at Tahoe Donner Ski Race…and footage on the evening news in Reno

*Space Cowboys and the Unimog of San Fransisco, got the beatz going off the hook for 2 consecutive days at the KTBase Bar at Squaw…

*The man with a “leg up” was on hand live! The Captain, himself, from television, was on-site in both Tahoe

City and Truckee to take folks for an old time Pub Crawl! …of course, the lovely Morganettes were also accompanying him..

*Weather was beautiful, as the numerous participants delved into the cold, cold, Tahoe winter waters to brave the 225 yard swim to claim title to Winner of the Polar Bear Swim at Gar Woods Grill & Pier

*Blue Agave hosted the Indoor River Rafting party & Trivia night…with participants dressed for the river in swimsuits, bamboo hat and zink oxide. The trivia was some good ‘ol fashioned Tahoe history.. so, people actually learned something that night!

*37th Annual Great Ski Race went off without a hitch despite low snow levels at the beginning of the week. Proceeds from this benefit the Tahoe Nordic Search and Rescue, which is a major necessity to winter safety in the Tahoe Basin

*Some local favorite events included: Jake’s Mardi Gras Party, Sunnyside Luau, Pete N Peter’s Bar Game Olympics, Cornice Cantina 80’s Retro Party, Mamasake extreme food challenge, Fine ‘n Funky Fashion show…Rosie’s BINGO night…and the Truckee Fastest Bartender contest …to name just a few!
